\ud83c\udf1f Primary 3\/4 Weekly Round-Up \u2013 Term 2, Week Two<\/h3>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Literacy & Writing<\/h3>\n

This week, we continued practising our tricky words<\/strong> and began an exciting new writing adventure! The Magical Explorer<\/strong> left us a map and letter<\/strong> in the special bag, telling us all about his recent travels to Egypt<\/strong>. We used atlases to find Egypt on the map<\/strong> and began to plan how we could track his journey<\/strong> as he continues to explore the world.<\/p>\n

The children wrote about where the map might lead<\/strong>, described what Egypt might be like<\/strong>, and created thoughtful diary entries<\/strong> about how they felt when they first received the map.<\/p>\n

In writing, we have also been working on using adjectives<\/strong> to make our sentences more interesting, and continuing to focus on sentence openers<\/strong>. We were lucky to have Miss Farmer<\/strong> join us during our writing slot this week \u2014 she led a brilliant STEM challenge<\/strong> where half the class worked on building pyramids<\/strong>, linking our literacy to our Egyptian theme!<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd22 Maths<\/h3>\n

In maths, we combined creativity with number work by making firework pictures<\/strong> using glitter<\/strong> and arrays for windows<\/strong> to help us visualise times tables<\/strong>. We also explored addition and subtraction fact families<\/strong> through fun games, and consolidated our knowledge of friends to 10 and 20<\/strong> by creating chatterboxes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We also continued our work on symmetry<\/strong>, recognising symmetrical patterns and shapes around us and creating our own symmetrical designs.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf0d Topic \u2013 Forces & Energy<\/h3>\n

Our big question this week was: \u201cHow do pushes and pulls help us move things in the world?\u201d<\/strong>
We explored different examples of forces in action<\/strong>, from everyday movements like opening doors and pushing swings, to bigger forces like pulling up fishing line to dropping a ball. The children made great links between what they already knew and what they observed in action.<\/p>\n

We also tried out some live movement activities<\/strong>, experimenting with how our bodies push, pull, and balance \u2014 helping us to consolidate our understanding through play and exploration.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc96 Health & Wellbeing<\/h3>\n

This term, we are learning about some of the UNCRC articles<\/strong> and how they relate to ourselves, our class, and our community. This week we focused on Article 2<\/strong>, exploring what equity and inclusion<\/strong> look like in our class and school. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how we can make sure everyone feels valued and respected.<\/p>\n

We also read the inspiring story \u201cWhat To Do With an Idea?\u201d<\/em> and discussed its message \u2014 that all ideas are important and worth sharing<\/strong>. We talked about how even big ideas like kindness and respect have to start somewhere<\/strong>, and how our own ideas can grow if we nurture them. The children then created beautiful artwork based on inspirational idea quotes<\/strong>, which turned out so well that Mrs Johnson has proudly displayed them at the front office<\/strong> for everyone to see! \ud83c\udf1f<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd7a PE \u2013 Teacher-Led Session<\/h3>\n

In PE, we had a firework dance session<\/strong>! The children used movement to express different fireworks<\/strong>, played a teamwork game called \u201cPass the Spark\u201d<\/strong>, and worked together with the parachute<\/strong> to show rhythm and coordination. Everyone showed brilliant teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm<\/strong> \u2014 and our firework finale was spectacular!<\/p>\n
