\ud83c\udf1f Primary 3\/4 Weekly Round-Up \u2013 Week Eight<\/h2>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Literacy & Spelling<\/h3>\n

This week we completed our \u201cSave Fairyland\u201d<\/strong> focus by writing about how we saved Fairyland<\/strong>. This gave us a wonderful opportunity to look back at all the fun and amazing writing we have created this term<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We also hit our class target on sentence openers<\/strong> \ud83c\udfaf and celebrated by voting for a hot chocolate\/ice cream and movie afternoon<\/strong> \u2013 which was lots of fun and very yummy! \ud83c\udf6b\ud83c\udf66\ud83c\udfac<\/p>\n

Our spelling focus was \u2018ur\u2019<\/strong>, and we continued to use our spelling strategies to practise words with this sound.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd22 Maths<\/h3>\n

We celebrated our learning with an End of Term Place Value Party<\/strong> \ud83c\udf89. We had lots of fun making numbers with our party hats<\/strong> and recognising which digits belonged to which value. There was also a glow stick number challenge<\/strong>, Swat the Number<\/strong>, and even Pass the Parcel with a twist<\/strong> \u2013 where each layer could only be opened after answering a place value question. These activities helped us to revisit and consolidate our knowledge of digits, how they are formed, and why place value is so important<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf31 Topic \u2013 Planet Protectors<\/h3>\n

We concluded the plants phase of Planet Protectors<\/strong> by looking at inheritance and characteristics passed through generations<\/strong> in both plants and humans. The children had great fun comparing themselves to other members of their families<\/strong> and noticing similarities and differences. They also created drawings to reflect their learning.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcbb ICT<\/h3>\n

This week the Primary 5\/6\/7 class joined us<\/strong> to help us develop our skills in Glow and Canva<\/strong>. Together, we created fantastic Planet Protector comic strips<\/strong>, showing creativity and collaboration.<\/p>\n

We also completed another internet safety lesson<\/strong> using the book #Goldilocks: A Cautionary Tale<\/em>. We discussed what is safe and unsafe to post online<\/strong> and thought carefully about how our digital choices affect ourselves and others. The children then created their own examples of safe and unsafe posts<\/strong> to show their understanding.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc96 PSHE<\/h3>\n

In PSHE, we discussed and wrote about how to care for a baby<\/strong>. As part of our play provision, the classroom was set up with lots of baby equipment<\/strong>, which has been a big hit and provided plenty of opportunities for role play, discussion, and teamwork.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, we were very lucky that baby Rosie and her Mummy came to visit us. \u00a0We asked lots of really excellent questions, learnt lots about babies from Rosie\u2019s mummy and even got some cuddles.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf89 Other News<\/h3>\n

We enjoyed Big Play<\/strong> on Friday \u2014 a great opportunity to explore the other classes and interact with the wider school community<\/strong>.
We also helped the Primary 6s complete their Play Leader training<\/strong> in the gym hall, joining in their activities and having great fun together.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
