\ud83c\udf1f Primary 3\/4 Weekly Round-Up \u2013 Term 4, Weeks 5 & 6<\/h2>\n

As Mrs Teale was out of class from Tuesday\u2013Friday in Week 5<\/strong>, this is update is a combination of the last two weeks into one update \u2014 and what two busy weeks they have been!<\/p>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Literacy<\/h3>\n

Over the past two weeks, we have continued developing our literacy skills in lots of creative ways.<\/p>\n

In grammar<\/strong>, our focus has been on speech marks<\/strong>, learning where they go and how to use them correctly. We explored this through superhero comic strips<\/strong>, which made the learning fun and practical, and the children have really enjoyed applying this skill in their writing.<\/p>\n

We have also continued our Story Blast<\/strong> and Ninja Comprehension<\/strong> work, developing reading comprehension skills through a range of texts and activities.<\/p>\n

Our Magical Door writing theme<\/strong> has continued too! In Week 5, the magical door took us to Tiny Village<\/strong>, where the children imagined what life might be like in a miniature world. They explored what jobs the tiny villagers might have and even took part in a job interview with a tiny person!<\/strong> We also created beautiful \u201cThrough the Keyhole\u201d artwork<\/strong> inspired by this theme.<\/p>\n

This week, our magical door brought a new frozen surprise, with animals asking for our help who had been frozen in ICE!<\/strong> This has inspired our writing, where the children are exploring different viewpoints through a debate-style piece between a planet protector and a business owner<\/strong>, linking beautifully to our global learning.<\/p>\n

\n

\ud83d\udd22 Maths<\/h3>\n

In maths, we have continued building confidence with money<\/strong> through a range of practical, real-life activities.<\/p>\n

The children used Lidl\u00a0supermarket shopping booklets<\/strong> to complete challenges involving comparing prices, ordering prices, and estimating totals<\/strong>. This week, we extended this learning to focus on working out change from \u00a31<\/strong>, helping children apply their skills in realistic contexts. And again looked at money in real life context, estimating and comparing prices on the Nando’s website – this just made us all very hungry!!<\/p>\n

We have also continued practising our times tables<\/strong> to keep our number fluency developing.<\/p>\n

\n

\ud83d\udcbb ICT<\/h3>\n

In ICT, we have continued using digital tools to support our learning. This week we used Blooket<\/strong> to practise our money skills<\/strong>, helping reinforce our classroom learning in a fun and engaging way.<\/p>\n

Over the next few weeks, the children will begin presenting their PowerPoint research projects <\/strong>\u00a0to the class, developing important CfE listening and talking and digital literacy skills<\/strong>, alongside key meta-skills<\/strong> such as confidence, communication, organisation, and critical thinking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf0d Topic \u2013 Building a Business<\/h3>\n

Our Building a Business Together<\/strong> topic continues to grow!<\/p>\n

We planted herbs for our caf\u00e9 garden<\/strong>, thinking ahead to how we might use them in our business. This gave the children a hands-on opportunity to think about sustainability and growing their own produce.<\/p>\n

We have also explored job roles in our caf\u00e9<\/strong>, and this week the children are completing job application forms<\/strong> to apply for the roles they would like when we begin running our caf\u00e9. It has been wonderful to see them thinking seriously about responsibility, teamwork and the qualities needed for different jobs and linking these to Meta Skills.<\/p>\n

\n

\ud83d\udc9b Health & Wellbeing<\/h3>\n

As part of our Mental Health Awareness learning for Mental Health Awareness week(week 5)<\/strong>, we explored feelings and regulation strategies<\/strong>. Using the theme of monster feelings<\/strong>, we talked about recognising emotions, understanding how we feel, and identifying strategies to help us regulate our emotions and support our wellbeing. We also painted some amazing giant feeling monsters<\/p>\n

We also continued our RSHP learning<\/strong>, focusing on important life skills and relationships.<\/p>\n

\n

\ud83d\udc1d Wider Learning<\/h3>\n

This week we explored World Bee Day<\/strong>, listening to an Earth Cubs podcast called Bee Brilliant<\/em><\/strong>. This sparked fantastic discussions about the importance of bees and what would happen if bees disappeared.<\/p>\n

The children then created beautiful contrasting artwork<\/strong>, showing a world with bees<\/strong> and a world without bees<\/strong>, helping them think deeply about biodiversity and caring for our environment.<\/p>\n

\n

\ud83c\udfa8 Play Provision<\/h3>\n

Our play provision over the last two weeks has been full of imaginative learning opportunities.<\/p>\n

This week, we created a Teddy Bears\u2019 Caf\u00e9<\/strong>, linking beautifully with our business topic. The children took on different caf\u00e9 roles and developed communication, role play and teamwork skills.<\/p>\n

We also had a water tray fishing activity<\/strong>, where children practised working out change from \u00a31<\/strong>, with each fish costing under \u00a31.<\/p>\n

To support our grammar learning, we also included speech mark and superhero literacy activities<\/strong>, helping children continue practising their skills through play.<\/p>\n

\n

It has been a wonderfully busy couple of weeks, full of creativity, practical learning, and lots of excitement! \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
