\ud83c\udf1f Primary 3\/4 Weekly Round-Up \u2013 Term 4, Week Three<\/h2>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Literacy<\/h3>\n

This week we continued our exciting Magical Door writing theme<\/strong>. When the children came into the classroom, they discovered that Mrs Teale\u2019s spoon had turned into a giant spoon<\/strong>, leading us to imagine that the world behind the magical door was a giant world<\/strong>! It wasn’t so good for eating her lunch!!<\/p>\n

This sparked lots of creativity, and the children wrote about the dangers they might face in a giant world<\/strong>, thinking carefully about how everyday objects might become challenges. They then wrote a diary entry titled \u201cMy First Day in Giant World,\u201d<\/strong> describing their experiences and feelings as they explored this new and unusual place.<\/p>\n

In grammar, we focused on pronouns<\/strong>, taking part in fun games to help us identify and use them correctly in our writing.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd24 Spelling<\/h3>\n

Our spelling focus this week was the \u2018au\u2019 sound<\/strong>. Everyone is enjoying using Sumdog Spelling to consolidate their new words. Who’s been having a go at home?<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd22 Maths<\/h3>\n

At the start of the week, we continued our work on fractions<\/strong>, building on our understanding of parts of a whole.<\/p>\n

We then moved on to a new topic of money<\/strong>, where the children explored coins and notes<\/strong>, looking at what they look like, how they feel, and how much they are worth. We discussed how values work (for example, 100p = \u00a31) and took part in hands-on activities to support understanding.<\/p>\n

The children also used Sumdog<\/strong> to consolidate their learning through interactive activities focused on coin recognition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

\ud83d\udcbb ICT \/ Languages<\/h3>\n

This week we had fun combining movement and language through a French yoga session<\/strong>, helping the children practise their French in an active and engaging way.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf0d Topic \u2013 Building a Business<\/h3>\n

As part of our Building a Business<\/strong> topic, we focused on the skills and qualities<\/strong> we each have that could help us in our caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

We discussed different job roles<\/strong> within a caf\u00e9 and how our personal skills could match these roles. The children began thinking about how they might apply for a job<\/strong> in the caf\u00e9 and what they would need to do to be successful in that role.<\/p>\n
