\ud83c\udf1f Primary 3\/4 Weekly Round-Up \u2013 Term 3, Week Eleven<\/p>\n
Our spelling sound this week was \u2018ie\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Our writing focus was inspired by Monkey Puzzle<\/em><\/strong> by Julia Donaldson. The children took part in a fun animal mix-up art activity<\/strong>, where they created their own imaginary animals using parts from different creatures \u2014 from giraffe heads to mermaid tails!<\/p>\n They then wrote a detailed fact file<\/strong> about their new animal, including where it lives, what it looks like, what it eats, and whether it has any special powers. It was fantastic to see their creativity and descriptive writing skills develop.<\/p>\n We also explored opinion and reasoning<\/strong> in writing. The children were asked: \u201cWould you rather be your animal or Mrs Teale\u2019s animal?\u201d<\/em> They had to clearly state their opinion and give reasons to support their answer, developing their ability to justify their thinking.<\/p>\n In maths this week, we focused on consolidating our learning. We:<\/p>\n Continued practising times tables<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Completed some assessments<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n We performed our Maths Spectacular Assembly<\/strong> today and it all went amazingly well!<\/strong> The children showed fantastic confidence and teamwork, and we are incredibly proud of them.<\/p>\n Throughout the week, we focused on developing key performance skills<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n Bringing the performance to life through expression and confidence<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Using props effectively<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Understanding how music enhances performance<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Learning about stage positioning<\/strong> and each person\u2019s role<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n It was wonderful to see all of their hard work come together. A video link will be sent out<\/strong> so you can enjoy the performance too!<\/p>\n We enjoyed another swimming session<\/strong> this week, with just one week left to go. The children continue to show great enthusiasm and confidence in the water.<\/p>\n This week we had several exciting visitors<\/strong> linked to our topic.<\/p>\n We learned about germs and hygiene<\/strong> with a visit from Environmental Health<\/strong>. The children used special Glow Bug handwashing kits<\/strong> to see which areas they had missed when washing their hands, helping them understand the importance of effective handwashing.<\/p>\n We also welcomed paramedics<\/strong>, who spoke about their role and what their job involves. The children asked thoughtful and interesting questions, showing great engagement with the topic.<\/p>\n Our class roadmap display<\/strong> is now up on the wall, showcasing the different emergency services and the important roles they play in helping others.<\/p>\n As part of St Patrick\u2019s Day<\/strong>, we took part in a STEM challenge based on the story How to Catch a Leprechaun<\/em>.<\/p>\n Working in small groups, the children designed and built their own leprechaun traps<\/strong>, developing skills in:<\/p>\n Problem-solving<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Teamwork and communication<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Measuring and building<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Creative thinking<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Our play project this week, led by Miss Farmer<\/strong>, was based on the rainforest<\/strong>, linking to our Monkey Puzzle<\/em> learning.<\/p>\n The children showed fantastic creativity, building:<\/p>\n Rainforest homes and habitats<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Digital creations and presentations<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Large construction models<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n One particularly impressive creation was a forest scene complete with a flowing waterfall<\/strong>.
