\ud83c\udf1f Primary 3\/4 Weekly Round-Up \u2013 Term 3, Week Seven<\/h2>\n

\ud83d\udd22 Maths<\/h3>\n

This week we became Angle Detectives<\/strong>! As trainee detectives, the children completed three case files<\/strong>, each exploring angles in a different way. They investigated angles hidden within letters<\/strong>, linked angles to their knowledge of compass points<\/strong>, and identified angles on a clock face<\/strong>. The class showed excellent reasoning skills and attention to detail while solving their cases.<\/p>\n

We also continued developing our mental maths skills through our One Minute Whizzers<\/strong> and introduced a new Speedy Multiplication booklet<\/strong>. The children timed themselves completing times tables questions, aiming to improve both their accuracy and speed<\/strong>, and showing great determination to beat their previous scores.<\/p>\n

We also created place value monsters<\/strong>, using different digits to build and represent numbers, helping us to continue strengthening our understanding of place value and how the position of a digit changes its value.<\/p>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Literacy & Spelling<\/h3>\n

Our spelling sound this week was \u2018ze\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We began a new focus on punctuation<\/strong>, reading The Full Stop That Got Away<\/em>. This helped us think carefully about the importance of full stops and capital letters in making our writing clear and meaningful. The children then wrote imaginative pieces exploring what would happen if all the full stops disappeared<\/strong>, leading to some wonderfully creative ideas.<\/p>\n

As part of our IDL learning, we enjoyed a fun pancake-themed afternoon<\/strong>. The children absolutely loved the imaginative role play<\/strong>, wearing chef hats and aprons as they created their own recipes. They worked collaboratively to design, discuss, and write clear instructional recipes<\/strong>, developing important writing, sequencing, and organisational skills<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We also read a story about a pancake thief<\/strong> who stole Mrs Teale\u2019s pancakes. The children created detailed Wanted posters<\/strong> and designed digital images<\/strong> of the thief using Paint software. It was fantastic to see their creativity and engagement throughout the afternoon.<\/p>\n

This week we began learning to code using Code.org<\/strong>. The children worked through a series of modules, starting with an Angry Birds coding challenge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
