Expressive Arts (Monday-Friday)
The bairns have been engaged in lots of different creative play this week including drawing, painting, junk modelling, music, paper folding, loose parts structures, playdough models and chalk drawing. The bairns have also used technology to create pictures on the smart board and a light box drawing tablet.
Outdoor Play (Monday-Friday)
We have made the most of the fine weather again this week. The bairns have planted brussel sprouts, used trowels and forks to dig in the dried up muddy puddle discovering many treasures, built dens, had band practice, created a potion station and a bug hotel.
Buddies (Tuesday)
The pre-schoolers met up with their buddies again this week. Their confidence is growing and they are exploring the upper and lower playparks.
Moon Play (Monday and Wednesday)
The bairns have been interested in finding out more about space. We created a moon using flour in a bowl and the bairns dropped stones and marbles representing meteors and asteroids onto the moon to make craters. They tested dropping from different heights and different sized objects.
Rope Swing (Wednesday-Friday)
The bairns have been taking turns on the rope swing. Encouraging each other and showing how to get the best swing. “That was awesome!” “I did it all by myself.”
Sunny Walk (Friday)
We set off on a walk around Cunningsburgh on Friday morning. We saw lots of animals on our way – rabbits, sheep, lambs, goats, pigs, hens and a cow. On the way back to nursery we stopped at the burn to throw stones and sail siggies down the water. As we were nearly back at nursery one of the bairns asked “Are we back in Cunningsburgh now?” It was a big walk for peerie legs!
Play and Learning (Monday-Friday)
Here is a selection of our play and learning from the reminder of the week. The bairns have discovered an interest in fossils. The archeologist used a paintbrush to dust off the fossils in the outdoor room. We will extend this interest over the next few weeks.
