Music (Monday)

We were delighted to have Mrs Garrick back for our music sessions.  The bairns sang the Welcome Song, moved their bodies and practised for our graduation assembly.

Buddies (Tuesday)

The P6 buddies came through to pick up their nursery buddies and headed to the playpark.  They played chasing games and helped each other on the equipment.  “That was fun!”

Outdoor Play (Monday-Thursday)

The bairns have been revamping the mud kitchen by adding a tablecloth and tidying up the dishes.  Then the bairns had a tea party.  There has been lots of planting this week, including onions and geraniums.  The bairns have also used chalk to mark-make on the path by drawing around themselves, making treasures maps and drawing pictures.

Folk Festival Trip (Friday)

We had an adventure to Lerwick and were very grateful for parents dropping off in town.  After drying off the equipment, the bairns explored the area, teaming up for things like the see-saw and the balance frame. We had a snack under the shelter of the huts watching the rain.  When we set off for our walk to Mareel, it had dried up so we didn’t arrive soggy.  During our walk we looked for a car in every colour of the rainbow.  We saw red, orange, green, blue and purple cars pretty quickly so we just needed a yellow car.  On our way to the catch the bus home, we spotted a yellow van and our mission was complete.  The concert was very lively with over 200 bairns in the audience.  The band, Budapest Cafe Orchestra, was lively and had the bairns up dancing from the first tune.  They spoke about their instruments and how the pitch and tempo changes.  We also looked out for something weird on the stage!  “I liked the slide and I liked the concert and all the dancing.”

Play and Learning (Monday-Friday)

Here is a selection of our play and learning from the rest of the week.  The bairns have read books, made snack, created small world environments, played games and built a fishing boat in the outdoor room.
