Happy Summer Holidays!
VE day celebrations
Reading Schools
With all the fantastic reading that takes place in Nesting, we have been accredited as a Reading School! Well done everyone!
School trip to the Northlink as requested by the class. We got a super tour around, including a visit to the Bridge to meet the Captain! We even got some goodie bags at the end. Thanks to Jane and her team for being so hospitable!
Â
We headed to the Fish Market where we got to see some of the fresh fish being packaged up and lifted to the vehicles outside. It was very cold and some found it a little smelly in there! We saw a massive seal who we think must get fed a fair bit of fish around there and then got a chance to go the auction and bid for our own fish where it was a toss between getting cheaper fish but pushing the button before others! We then went to the Northlink terminal for our snack.
Cycling during Friday Fun
Outdoor Learning
We had a great day taking part in outdoor learning on Monday with education specialist, Kate Hookham. The children learned about and took part in knot making, building dens, safety around fires in a fire pit and using tools. It was a super day with lots of learning for the children and staff!
Our butterflies hatched!
The children have been following very closely, the transformation of 5 caterpillars into a butterfly. We released them on Monday, not before they landed on our hands!
Instrument Instructors concert
We were very lucky to get a visit from a combination of instrument instructors who have collaborated together to go around the schools of Shetland, show casing what is on offer. We enjoyed renditions of Disney classics, familiar cartoons and even had the Up Helly Aa song!
New starts first transition
Today we had our 3 new P1s in for a visit. We explored the school, played, had a story and went for play outside. The older children joined us for a play. It was lovely seeing the new starts feel so comfortable.
