We learned about the “Three Billy Goats Gruff” story .
We started transition into Primary One.
We visited the lower primary class and learned with some of the primary children.
On March 2nd we dressed up and raised money for World Book Day.
Some o the adults and older children read with us.
Mrs Thomson came into nursery and invited all under 5’s to attend a Viking themed book bug session.
We sang some Viking songs, played with lycra and got a fab Nick Sharratt story about dressing up.
We read “The Little Red Hen” using a PDF on the kindle Fire and then used our “story box” to retell it with mini figures.
We then watched Pie Corbett perform the story on You Tube. He uses a unique “storytelling approach” for children to remember stories with and results with improved literacy. This method was then taken up by the National Strategies ‘Talk for writing’ programme

A group of teachers from Nice in France have been at the school for the past two days. They were visiting a variety of schools in Shetland to find out more about our education system and how smaller communities work. During their visit they spent time with us in the nursery. We sang “bonjour Mes Amis” with them, they taught us to say some colours in French.
The whole school held “Roald Dahl day”, to celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday, where children were encouraged to dress as characters or wear yellow (his favourite colour).
We came 3rd at the Unst Show in the under 5’s paper plate creation, with our “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. We have used him to make a display. Mrs Thomson also read us the story in library.
