School Closures

Thank you to parents for continuing to work together with the school to ensure the safety of all our young people on snowy days.

How do I find out if the school is closed?

BBC Radio Scotland, at 6.50am and 7.20am, will provide local information.

SIBC, a 24 hour radio station, will provide regular local information up-dates. They also have a Twitter feed.

Shetland Islands Council webpage at http://www.shetland.gov.uk/adverseweather will display the list of school closed.

We try to have the school website, www.anderson.shetland.sch.uk, carry news of our closure as early as possible, although this is network dependent.

Please remember that the decision to send your child to school is ultimately yours.

What about home study when the school is closed?

  1. Teachers have spoken with pupils about work they can get on with at home, if they cannot attend school due to the weather (including revision, useful websites, summarizing notes and reading).
  2. The “Departments” menu of the website contains links to individual subjects.
