Shetland Wool Week at AHS

Shetland Wool Week 2019 is just around the corner and the maakers at AHS are excited to be involved again this year.

There are various activities taking part in the school during wool week:

  • On Wednesday a few of the AHS maakers will be going along to the Knitter’s Hub at the Museum for the afternoon before heading back to the Taak Your Sock night here at Anderson High School. This is an event where knitters are invited along to the school library for a night of knitting and socialising.
Anderson High school hosted this event last year and had over 72 people attending from all over the world. It was such a success that we decided to do it again this year. There will be a cup of tea and homebakes available to all who attend and donations are accepted for the Anderson High School Fund. Please come along to this event if you can make it from 6.30-8.30pm on Wednesday 2nd October in the library
  • On Friday it will be Fair Isle Friday in schools across Shetland. Anderson High School will be taking part and all staff and pupils will be asked to come to school wearing something with a Fair isle pattern and a group photo will be taken which will be shared with SWW organisers.
  • The Makers Market is back in AHS again this year on Saturday 5 October from 11-4pm. As well as lots of stalls selling wool, books, garments and various knitting accessories, there is also the fantastic AHS Café. You can have soup and a bannock and/or a delicious cake. If you are planning to come to the market please give yourself plenty of time as there is so much to see and do. Also most stalls and the café only accept cash payments so bring plenty of cash with you. Of course it also goes without saying – take your knitting too!!
