The finals event of the Aith JH Ready, Steady Cook! was held on 22nd December. Earlier heats had taken place during the term for each secondary year group (plus the staff) where pairs of participants were offered a selection of ingredients with which to make up their own recipe then undertake a cook-off with the resulting dishes judged by members of the school community. The winning pairs from each round then had a final cook-off. The resulting dishes were judged on presentation, taste and imagination.
A great time was had by all and it was good fun. The standard was very high and the judges said that the dishes could have been served in a restaurant.
The finalists were from S3 (winners pictured with their prize aprons) and their winning dish was a variation on lamb brioche served with roasted sweet potatoes and a minted yoghurt dip.
Well done to all concerned, staff were impressed with the standard in the earlier heats and the final was eagerly anticipated by all across the secondary sector.
