Four Aith pupils ventured to Scalloway on Nov 5 and participated in a inter school tournament.
The event was good natured, sporting and competitive with youngsters from all over the isles gathering for this Active Schools organised fixture.
Individual medals were won plus team gold. Well done to our players.
A summary of the day from one of the schools’ two sports ambassadors.
We represented Aith Junior High School at the Youth Ambassador meeting at the KMC Business Centre in Aberdeen. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anybody who gets the opportunity.
The day consisted of an “opening ceremony” where we heard what other young ambassadors had achieved and listened to certain athletes’ stories. We then moved on to a morning workshop where we were put into groups and listened to other athlete’s stories, as well as playing interactive games. We then went for lunch.
After lunch we began the second workshop which was mainly based around what you could do to improve sport and make a difference in your school. We came up with some good ideas and noted them down. We then finished the day with the “closing ceremony” where they rounded up the event and said goodbye.
I found this event both inspiring and very enjoyable. I would like to thank Miss Fraser for taking us. I hope to be able to make a difference with sport in our school.
