There are various forms of support available to parents of young people attending the Anderson High.

Teen Triple P Parenting Programme- available through the Shetland Family Centre

FREE COURSES FOR PARENTS AND CARERS OF 12-16 YEAR OLDS

Small Changes, Big Differences

How will Teen Triple P help you?

  • Develop a positive and supportive relationship with your teenager.
  • Develop strategies to improve your teenagers emotional regulation and self-esteem.
  • Learn new skills and strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Become more confident in your parenting.
  • Encouragement to look after yourself.
  • Gain peer support from other parents.

This programme is an in person group

  • 7 week programme
  • 2.5 hour weekly group meetings for 5 weeks
  • One to one phone call for 2 weeks
  • Smaller groups, friendly facilitators
  • Course book provided
  • Tea & coffee provided

Weekly sessions:

  • Session 1 – Positive parenting
  • Session 2 – Encouraging appropriate behaviour
  • Session 3 – Managing problem behaviour
  • Session 4 – Dealing with risky behaviour
  • Session 5-6 – Implementing parenting routines through telephone support
  • Session 7 – Programme close
