plan.<\/b>\u00a0 This will give you control over your studying and reduce stress.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b> Break up your subjects<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b>First, mark the date for each exam.\u00a0 Then look at what you need to cover.\u00a0 Break each subject into small manageable pieces, and make a list topic by topic.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><b> Prioritise<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b>It\u2019s worth preparing in more detail for exams which carry a higher percentage of your total mark.\u00a0 You may also want to spend extra time on your weaker areas or where you need to fill gaps.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><b> Be realistic<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b>Create a revision plan that will work for you.\u00a0 It has to be achievable and something that you can stick to.\u00a0 Allow for rest breaks and relaxation time.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><b> Expect the unexpected<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b>Plan for some free study time each week.\u00a0 You may find you need more time on a certain subject.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><b> Make a study plan<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b>Draw up a revision plan (example below).\u00a0 Mark in your exam dates and subjects.\u00a0 Divide your list of topics across each week. Try to study with others at a similar level. Try some of the above techniques in a social setting, talking each other through key concepts and work with the feedback from others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Remember<\/h2>\n<p>Commit information to <b>long term memory<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Just looking at your notes won\u2019t help you learn them. You need to organise the information in some way.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Try to think about how it relates to other material.<\/li>\n<li>Use key words to prompt your brain to remember background information.<\/li>\n<li>Make notes of your notes; add pointers to other<br \/>\nmaterial that is connected to what you\u2019re studying.<\/li>\n<li>Keep checking what you remember from previous<br \/>\nsessions. Note the things you don\u2019t remember (maybe keep a list of \u2018Things to Learn\u2019) and review them as you go.<\/li>\n<li>Come back to your study regularly and check what you remember after one week, one month etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Look\/Cover\/Write\/Check<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Look over notes you want to learn\u2014recite it over and over or write it out several times\u2014this commits it to memory.<\/li>\n<li>Cover your work so you can\u2019t see it.<\/li>\n<li>Write out or recite what you can remember.<\/li>\n<li>Check what you have got correct and take note of what you missed out or got wrong\u2014re-learn it and check again in a few days to see if you remember it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Recall<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Practise retrieving information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Memorising information is not enough.<br \/>\nWriting exam answers is a skill that needs to be practised.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Test yourself<\/li>\n<li>Time your answers<\/li>\n<li>Use the correct vocabulary<\/li>\n<li>Try to do as many practice papers as possible. You may find a topic more tricky than you thought and need more study time or find you have finished a topic with time to spare. Prioritise whatever time you have left.
