One period is spent on practical craft, the other spent on drawing\/technology.<\/p>\n<h3>Practical Craft<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Woodwork Unit 1 (Boat )<\/strong><br \/>\nIntroduction to wood working tools and process such as sawing, planing and chiselling. The importance of safety in the workshop and when using machines is Stressed to the pupils.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Metalwork Unit 1 (Key Tab)<\/strong><br \/>\nIntroduction to metal working tools and process such as filing, marking out and drilling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Woodwork Unit 2 (Pencil Case)<\/strong><br \/>\nA more complex product where parts are shaped to fit and glued together.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plastic Unit 1 (Fridge Magnet)<\/strong><br \/>\nIntroduction to the shaping and finishing of plastic by the making of a fridge magnet pupils also have to design the shape they are going to make.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Drawing\/Technology<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Drawing Unit 1\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nIntroduction to technical drawing using instruments. Pupils produce 2D drawings using correct drawing techniques.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sketching Unit 1\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nPupils progress from sketching straight lines and rectangles to 2D objects. CAD Unit 1 By drawing 2D objects pupils are introduced to AutoCAD<\/li>\n<li><strong>Technology Unit 1\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nBasic Mechanical and Electrical systems are studied using both kits and computer simulation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sketching Unit 2\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nBasic 3D sketching and rendering<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drawing Unit 2\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nUsing square paper pupils are introduced to Orthographic drawing.
