There will be 2 units to complete in class and an assignment to do which is set by SQA and conducted in school under a high degree of supervision.<\/p>\n<p>At N5 level, the course assessment has two components.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Question paper (90 marks)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2 hours<\/li>\n<li>Assignment (30 marks)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5 hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Assignment is worth 25% of overall mark which has to be completed during class time and sent to the SQA in March. The assignment requires pupils to research and analyse information, and produce a business report using given headings. The report is based on the evidence of the research findings and should detail appropriate conclusions and\/or recommendations. The final report should be no longer than 1,300 words (excluding appendices). The exam consists of a question paper which is 75% of the overall grade.<\/p>\n<p>There are 5 main topics in N4\/N5 Business Management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding Business<\/li>\n<li>Marketing<\/li>\n<li>Operations<\/li>\n<li>Human Resources<\/li>\n<li>Finance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Aims of the Course<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Pupils will develop knowledge and understanding of the ways in which society relies on business to satisfy needs and wants<\/li>\n<li>The class will get an insight into the systems organisations use to ensure customers\u2019 needs are met<\/li>\n<li>Pupils will learn about enterprising skills and attributes<\/li>\n<li>This course will include financial awareness, in a business context<\/li>\n<li>It will give pupils an insight into how organisations arrange their resources for maximum efficiency and to improve their overall performance<\/li>\n<li>This course will show an awareness of how external influences impact on organisations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Homework Policy<\/h2>\n<p>There will be homework issued throughout the course.
