{"id":14205,"date":"2026-09-14T14:32:25","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T13:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/BurravoePrimarySchool\/?p=14205"},"modified":"2026-09-14T14:32:25","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T13:32:25","slug":"views-sought-on-future-options-for-burravoe-and-skeld-primary-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/BurravoePrimarySchool\/2026\/09\/14\/views-sought-on-future-options-for-burravoe-and-skeld-primary-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Views sought on future options for Burravoe and Skeld Primary Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shetland Islands Council is seeking views on the future of Burravoe and Skeld Primary Schools.<\/p>\n<p>Two online surveys have been launched today, asking residents, parents, staff, and other stakeholders for their views.\u00a0\u00a0 The responses from the surveys will help inform the Options Appraisal process and will be considered alongside other factors, including\u00a0education, community, transport and finance. \u00a0No decision has been made regarding the future of either school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Skeld Primary School has been mothballed since August 2024, following a decision by the Council\u2019s Education and Families Committee after the completion of the Council&#8217;s mothballing process. \u00a0Burravoe Primary School currently has less than five pupils on the school roll and would meet the criteria for consideration under the Council&#8217;s mothballing procedures.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A range of options are being explored, including maintaining current arrangements, reopening or continuing the mothballing of Skeld Primary School, and the potential for future statutory consultation on permanent closure.
