The stalk will be used for bedding for animals and the grain will be ground to make flour and bread. First \u00a0we went to our patch and the big ones cut near the bottom with scissors and the little ones collected the chopped bere. After we tied the chopped bere into a sheaf and took lots of pictures then we carried it down to the bike place and layed\u00a0the sheaf\u00a0upright to dry and ripen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This morning\u00a0we harvested our bere\u00a0crop which is a\u00a0traditional Shetland cereal.
