Our curriculum is guided by the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) principles and follows the SBC Frameworks. It is designed to provide pupils with a broad general education and prepare them for future challenges.

The curriculum at Stow Primary School encompasses:
1. The Four Contexts for Learning:
- Curriculum Areas and Subjects: We offer a wide range of subjects including Literacy, Numeracy, Health & Wellbeing, Sciences, Social Studies, Technologies, Expressive Arts, and Religious and Moral Education.
- Interdisciplinary Learning (IDL): IDL is a key feature of our curriculum, designed to enhance learning across the curriculum by enabling pupils to make connections within their learning. We replace traditional ‘topic headings’ with ‘concepts for learning,’ such as “Community,” allowing for more meaningful and personalized learning experiences.
- Ethos and Life of the School as a Community: We promote a positive school culture that supports social, emotional, and academic development. Our curriculum includes the Rights Respecting Schools framework and encourages pupils to lead their own learning and contribute to school life.
- Opportunities for Personal Achievement: We encourage pupils to take part in activities that build their confidence, skills, and sense of responsibility. Achievements are shared and celebrated within the school and with the wider community.
2. Principles of Curriculum Design:
- Challenge and Enjoyment: Learning experiences that are engaging and intellectually stimulating.
- Breadth: A wide range of subjects and learning opportunities.
- Progression: Continuous development of knowledge and skills.
- Depth: Opportunities to study subjects in more detail.
- Personalisation and Choice: Tailoring learning to meet individual needs and interests.
- Coherence: Logical and connected learning experiences.
- Relevance: Learning that relates to the world around us and prepares pupils for life beyond school.
