Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC)

Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) supports families by making sure children and young people receive the right help, at the right time, from the right people. The aim is to help every child grow up feeling loved, safe, and respected, so they can realise their full potential.

Most children and young people get all the help and support they need from their parents, wider family, and community. However, sometimes they may need a little extra help — perhaps at certain points in their learning journey or in response to specific needs.

At Stow Primary, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every learner is supported to thrive. We recognise and celebrate neurodiversity, understanding that children and young people experience and interact with the world in many different ways. Our approaches aim to ensure that every child — including those with additional support needs or neurodivergent profiles — feels valued, understood, and able to succeed.

GIRFEC encourages families to work in partnership with the people who can best support them — such as teachers, support staff, health professionals, and other services — to ensure the right help is available when it’s needed.
