On Tuesday 21^st of May we went to the P5 Countryside day at the Borders Event Centre. I really enjoyed the farrier because I like to see them take a bit of straight metal and bend it into a horse shoe. I also liked exploring the animal transporter because it was fun to see what an animal felt like. Oh and I also liked to see and feel the chickens, I thought they felt soft. The chicks were really cute and the baby ducks was only 1 day old.

On Friday the 26^th of April Primary 4, 5 and 6 went to the Sprouston Friday Club at the village hall. We baked scones to take with us. Once we got there we handed out scones, tea and cakes and in the end we played Jenga and Dominoes.

In March P5 and 6 entered the John Byrne competition. We had to draw a picture that was not too hard or too easy. First we practised on a sticky note, next we done it for real then we added detail. We used crosshatching to shade it.

I felt really proud of my work and I wish I won the competition.

In March, we entered the John Byrne competition. We were learning to render drawings using dots and cross hatching. In the competition we were not allowed to shade in our picture. We practised by drawing nature, like bees, ants and flowers.

I enjoyed drawing my picture and I was proud of it at the end.

A few months ago primary 5 and 6 achieved Bikeability 1. Two men from the outdoor nature team called Jim and Keith came with a van full of bikes and equipment. They taught us how to ride safely.

I felt happy because I learnt how to ride and set off safely.

I recommend Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling and illustrated by William Webb. The story is fiction, fantasy, scary, adventure and mystery. The book was first published by Bloomsbury in 1997.

My Favourite character’s name is the Sorting Hat. His personality is sorting people into the houses Gryffindor, Slytheren, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. His physical appearance is a talking hat. I feel sad for the character because all he ever does is sort people into houses.

The setting is at Hogwarts which is a school of witchcraft and wizardry,  platform 9 3/4 where the Hogwarts express leaves, Privet Drive where the Dursley’s live and Diagon Alley in London which only magic people can enter.

The first part of the plot is set at the Dudsleys house, number 4 Privet Drive. The second part of the plot is the sorted into the houses Gryffindor, Slytheren, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. The third part of the plot is battling Voldmort.

Last week I went on my primary 6 residential at Kingswood. I got to try a wide range of new activates including abseiling and climbing. We also did some more relaxed activities such as walking and team challenges. This really helped build my social confidence and I got to meet lots of new people.

I enjoyed making friends with people from neighbouring schools. I liked learning about lighting fires and not just surviving but thriving. My favourite activate was defiantly the 3G Swing.

The whole school went once a week for a swimming lesson. We went on a Tuesday to Kelso Swimming Pool. Those who can swim were in the deep end those who could not swim were in the shallow end. Each group had a leader who taught us new things.

It was very enjoyable experience.

To celebrate World Book Day we decided to have A Big Booky Breakfast. We asked the parents to come to our school with their kids and bring a book each. Once we had shared our books with everyone we all had cakes, croissants and pain au chocolait with jam.

I enjoyed seeing the kids, getting to know new people and to experience seeing new books. The food was awesome and I hope everyone enjoyed it.
