{"id":676,"date":"2023-09-28T11:07:25","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T10:07:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/?p=676"},"modified":"2023-09-28T11:07:25","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T10:07:25","slug":"connecting-with-parents-motivations-cwpm-training-increasing-staff-skills-in-engaging-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/2023\/09\/28\/connecting-with-parents-motivations-cwpm-training-increasing-staff-skills-in-engaging-families\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecting with Parents\u2019 Motivations (CwPM) Training &#8211; Increasing staff skills in engaging families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Connecting with Parents\u2019 Motivations (CwPM) Training &#8211; Increasing staff skills in engaging families <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>One day training: 9am \u2013 4pm, 19<sup>th<\/sup> October or 26<sup>th<\/sup> October 2023 at SBC Council HQ<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aimed at all staff working with children and families, including Early Years Practitioners, PoPP trained staff, Social Work staff and members of NHS Borders staff particularly Health Visiting Teams.<\/p>\n<p>CwPM is a strength-based communication skills training developed within NHS Education Scotland (NES) that is designed to enhance the abilities of the wider children and families workforce, so that they can have more of the kinds of conversations with parents that are likely to facilitate parent uptake and engagement with support.<\/p>\n<p>CwPM training helps to develop non-judgemental, empowering partnerships between practitioners and parents. The training encourages greater use of specific strength-based communication skills that have been scientifically demonstrated to increase engagement between practitioners and families.<\/p>\n<p>The training day uses short video clips, discussion, reflection and a range of interactive activities, with lots of time to learn and practice new skills. The day also offers information about the Psychology of Parenting Project (PoPP) \u2013 what it is and how it\u2019s delivered in the Scottish Borders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For enrolment and further details please email <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:mhutton@scotborders.gov.uk\"><strong>mhutton@scotborders.gov.uk<\/strong><\/a><strong> by Friday 29<sup>th<\/sup> September 2023, or earlier as places are limited. N.B. Funding for supply cover may be available if required. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please also let me know if you want to attend the training but are unable to make either the 19<sup>th<\/sup> or the 26<sup>th<\/sup>.
