{"id":3475,"date":"2026-10-06T10:50:55","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T09:50:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/?p=3475"},"modified":"2026-10-06T10:50:55","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T09:50:55","slug":"new-signalong-refresher-sessions-launching-this-autumn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/2026\/10\/06\/new-signalong-refresher-sessions-launching-this-autumn\/","title":{"rendered":"New Signalong Refresher Sessions Launching This Autumn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following feedback from colleagues requesting longer-term support to consolidate and develop their signing skills, we are delighted to share details of a new series of <strong>Signalong Refresher Sessions<\/strong> being trialled this term.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>These sessions are designed for education staff who have previously attended a <strong>Signalong Introduction Workshop<\/strong> and would like additional opportunities to practise, revisit and build confidence in using signs within their daily work.<\/p>\n<p>Running weekly on <strong>Thursday afternoons from 3:30pm to 4:30pm<\/strong>, the sessions will begin after the October break and continue through to December. Each session will focus on practising core vocabulary introduced during the introductory workshops, alongside a selection of seasonal and topic-specific signs that can be applied immediately within learning and teaching contexts.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to support colleagues to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consolidate and retain core Signalong vocabulary<\/li>\n<li>Increase confidence in using signs in everyday interactions<\/li>\n<li>Extend their signing repertoire through relevant seasonal themes<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen inclusive communication approaches within their settings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Autumn Refresher Programme<\/h3>\n<p>\ud83c\udf83 <strong>29 October<\/strong> \u2013 Halloween Signs (<a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/meet\/377085421158713?p=373366666699223923\">joining link<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf86 <strong>5 November<\/strong> \u2013 Fireworks Signs (<a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/meet\/344525440692350?p=399727936332369323\">joining link<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>\u2744\ufe0f <strong>12 November<\/strong> \u2013 Winter Signs (<a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/meet\/366243171652270?p=629723732392663766\">joining link<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfe0 <strong>19 November<\/strong> \u2013 Daily Routine Signs (<a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/meet\/344538669877508?p=377639323339636676\">joining link<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf84 <strong>3 December<\/strong> \u2013 Christmas Signs (<a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/meet\/397452256863858?p=226396729227666666\">joining link<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf81 <strong>10 December<\/strong> \u2013 Christmas Holiday Signs (<a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/meet\/377880204069861?p=773929962726672379\">joining link<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><em>Please note that there will be no session on 26 November due to a prior commitment.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Who Can Attend?<\/h3>\n<p>These refresher sessions are intended for colleagues who are already using Signalong and have attended an introductory workshop.<\/p>\n<p>Staff who have not yet completed a Signalong Introduction Workshop are encouraged to do so before attending the refresher sessions.
