{"id":3261,"date":"2026-06-24T17:07:39","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T16:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/?p=3261"},"modified":"2026-06-24T17:07:39","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T16:07:39","slug":"love-music-calling-all-upper-primary-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/2026\/06\/24\/love-music-calling-all-upper-primary-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"Love Music &#8211; Calling all upper primary teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Calling all upper primary teachers!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Love Music are inviting applications for qualified upper primary teachers to take part in our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lovemusic.org.uk\/portfolio\/sing-for-wellbeing\/\"><strong>FREE Sing for Wellbeing CPD programme<\/strong><\/a>, starting in September 2026 on 8 x Friday afternoons across the academic year, in central Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the second year of our fully funded primary teacher CPD, which is designed for and with teachers who feel a lack of confidence of skills in leading singing with pupils in their classrooms. No prior singing or music experience is necessary!<\/p>\n<p>We worked with 26 teachers in our 2025-26 cohort, they said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve\u00a0absolutely loved the course, the resources and using them in my class, the children love them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve really enjoyed the Friday afternoons&#8230;my confidence in my singing has increased &#8211; I hope my tuning has improved, I feel it has.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sing for Wellbeing is both a training, and a community of practice, where professional teaching practitioners have a voice and co-design to meet the needs of our learning cohort. Our material and approach\u00a0is\u00a0aimed at\u00a0<strong>Upper Primary P4-7,<\/strong>\u00a0however, teachers working in other year groups or across all year groups are also welcome to join us.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>For full details, FAQs and to sign up, visit our website:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lovemusic.org.uk\/portfolio\/sing-for-wellbeing\"><strong>https:\/\/lovemusic.org.uk\/portfolio\/sing-for-wellbeing<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Teachers will:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Receive 10x more music training than offered in typical Initial Teacher Education training<br \/>\n&#8211; Work with music inclusion and education specialist and Love Music\u2019s artistic director Stephen Deazley, and other consultant specialists in education,\u00a0inclusion\u00a0and music<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Develop skills and confidence to use singing inclusively in their teaching practice.<br \/>\n&#8211; Develop a deeper understanding of the impact of inclusive group singing on their own and pupils&#8217; health and wellbeing.<br \/>\n&#8211; Become part of our growing \u2018Community of Practice\u2019 where teachers will meet others taking part, support their peers, share learning, resources, and ideas.<\/p>\n<p>-Receive a year of training for FREE thanks to Creative Scotland and William Syson\u00a0Foundation, alongside access and travel support where needed<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications are open<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0<strong>now\u00a0<\/strong>until our first session on 18 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Please ask questions via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lovemusic.org.uk\/portfolio\/sing-for-wellbeing\/\"><strong>sign-up form<\/strong><\/a>, or by emailing\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:hello@lovemusic.org.uk\">hello@lovemusic.org.uk<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0we\u2019ll\u00a0be happy to help.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mae Murray MBE<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Calling all upper primary teachers!
