{"id":3147,"date":"2026-03-24T12:02:31","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T12:02:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/?p=3147"},"modified":"2026-03-25T19:32:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T19:32:12","slug":"nurturing-nature-family-learning-in-local-greenspace-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/professionallearning\/2026\/03\/24\/nurturing-nature-family-learning-in-local-greenspace-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Nurturing Nature \u2013 Family Learning in local Greenspace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monday 15 February 2027, 9am &#8211; 3:15pm &#8211; <em>Broomlands Primary School<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Equip Early Years Practitioners with practical tools and understanding to deliver a family learning programme harnessing the benefits of their local green spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will:<br \/>\n\u2022 Understand the benefits of the nurturing nature approach<br \/>\n\u2022 Consider ways of engaging with parents and carers in a natural environment<br \/>\n\u2022 Understand their role in modelling play and learning to families<br \/>\n\u2022 Explore practical examples of group management, risk benefit assessment and the resources required to lead these sessions<br \/>\n\u2022 Take away practical skills and resources to support delivery of the nurturing nature programme in their own setting<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Target Audience<\/strong> \u2013 This course is ideally suited to Early Years Practitioners who are already taking their children off-site to explore nature. This is most commonly Forest Kindergarten type activity but could also be visits to the beach, the park or other spaces where they can explore in nature. Practitioners with Forest School training or similar would also benefit. The idea is to use their existing skills and knowledge in these areas and expand on them to develop a family learning programme to engage with families in their setting. We are happy for you to send any suitable staff members to the course, but it will be more beneficial to them and more readily applicable to practice if they already have some prior knowledge of the practicalities of getting off-site.
