Teacher leaders will also provide additional capacity within the \u2018Team Around the Cluster\u2019 model, offering schools within each cluster access to expert support and advice about key #SBCway improvement priorities. These teacher leader roles provide a unique opportunity for experienced practitioners to lead, with support, out-with their own classroom and school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SBCway-linked roles<\/strong><br \/>\nFor the priority areas listed below, teacher leaders will:<br \/>\n\u2713 Be classed-based but the school\u2019s lead practitioner for ongoing specific priority developments.<br \/>\n\u2713 Remain up-to-date with SBCway developments.<br \/>\n\u2713 Attend regular (max. half-termly) twilight webinars.<br \/>\n\u2713 Support with ongoing evaluation of improvement developments.<br \/>\n\u2713 Join and engage with relevant SchoolHouse channel.<br \/>\n\u2713 Promote key messages to wider staff team, liaising with HTs.<br \/>\n\u2713 Support school \/ cluster improvement activity as directed by HTs.<br \/>\n\u2713 Commit 10hrs of individual CPD time to the role<\/p>\n<p><strong>SBCway priorities<\/strong><br \/>\nTo ensure key priorities receive proportionate teacher leader attention, the following opportunities have been allocated according to school size.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2715\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/public\/professionallearning\/uploads\/sites\/3822\/2025\/08\/07084904\/sbcway.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"806\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/public\/professionallearning\/uploads\/sites\/3822\/2025\/08\/07084904\/sbcway.jpg 1260w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/public\/professionallearning\/uploads\/sites\/3822\/2025\/08\/07084904\/sbcway-300x105.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/public\/professionallearning\/uploads\/sites\/3822\/2025\/08\/07084904\/sbcway-1024x359.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/public\/professionallearning\/uploads\/sites\/3822\/2025\/08\/07084904\/sbcway-768x269.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 806px) 100vw, 806px\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Commitment:<\/strong> Teacher leaders, by definition, are classroom based. They will commit 10 hours of their individual CLPL time to this development opportunity. School leaders may choose to provide additional time if appropriate. Additional CLPL sessions may be offered over the school year.<br \/>\n<strong>Middle leaders:<\/strong> In most secondary schools and some primary schools, these teacher leader roles will already sit within the remit of existing PTs or other middle leader roles. As such, there is no requirement to appoint additional individuals into these roles unless there is an appropriate rationale to do so.<br \/>\n<strong>Recruitment process:<\/strong> The opportunity to be a Teacher leader should be offered to all teachers. Headteachers should discuss these opportunities with staff. If necessary, informal interviews can be conducted to select the most suitable candidates.<br \/>\n<strong>Vacant roles:<\/strong> If a school\/group of schools is unable to appoint teacher leaders, Headteachers will be the designated point of contact for improvement activity. But Headteachers will not be required to fulfil the expectations of the teacher leader role<\/p>\n<p>As part of our new leadership academy approach, please send the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/e\/1cbF12uqe7\">\u2018sign up\u2019<\/a> link to any staff you have nominated for these opportunities.
