Bilingual Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Bilingual Support Team are hosting a number of sessions for education staff to help support our Bilingual Learners.<\/p>\n

The sessions listed below are bookable via Business World.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Supporting Beginner <\/strong>Bilingual learners in the Mainstream Setting<\/p>\n

(Primary and Secondary)<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

To raise awareness of the specific learning needs of Beginner<\/strong> bilingual learners in the primary and secondary setting.<\/p>\n

To provide an insight into second language acquisition and how this impacts on English language acquisition.<\/p>\n

To look at strategies to help Beginner<\/strong> bilingual learners access the curriculum.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Available for Whole school \/ Cluster CAT sessions<\/p>\n

Available on BW for individuals<\/p>\n

To raise awareness of the specific learning needs of Established bilingual learners in the Early Years<\/strong> setting. To provide an insight into second language acquisition and how this impacts on English language acquisition. To look at strategies to help bilingual learners access the Early Years<\/strong> curriculum<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Supporting New Scots<\/strong> in schools<\/p>\n

Themes will include:<\/p>\n

To build staff knowledge and understanding of the rights of these learners and consider how to support them to integrate into our schools. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

This session will address the journeys made by these young people to reach the Scottish Borders, the legal framework under which UASC have arrived in our authority, their experiences including trauma and strategies for how they can best be supported in schools.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n
