COURSE CONTENT \u2013What will I learn?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>There are three units (topics) for National 3 and 4 History:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unit I \u2013 Scottish<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>The Life and Death of William Wallace<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>In this topic you will learn about the historical figure of William Wallace.\u00a0 You will look closely at how he became a famous symbol of Scottish resistance fighting against the English, focusing\u00a0 specifically on the great battles of Stirling Bridge and Falkirk.\u00a0 Finally you will learn about his heroic but gruesome death, and the reasons why he is so well remembered in Scotland today.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unit II \u2013 British<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>City Life 1800-1900<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>This topic is all about the terrible housing conditions that existed in the British cities during the 1800s. Throughout the unit you will learn about the reasons for the fast population growth and how the large cramped cities affected the health of the people living there.\u00a0 You will then focus on the many changes and improvements made which meant that life got so much better for these people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unit III \u2013 European and World<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>You will learn about key people such as Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks, as well as the various campaigns to improve civil rights in the USA.\u00a0 Did you know what the Ku Klux Klan was and what it did?\u00a0 Have you heard of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the sit-ins or freedom rides? Have you ever listened to Martin Luther King\u2019s iconic \u2018I have a dream\u2019 speech?
