Entry Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n Candidates should have achieved a pass at\u00a0 National 5 Physical Education at A or B grade. Candidates who do not meet this requirement must discuss entry to this course with Mrs Williams.<\/p>\n COURSE CONTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n Higher Physical Education allows candidates to investigate Factors Impacting Mental, Emotional, Social and Physical performance through the Cycle of Analysis.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The course includes both Theoretical and Practical elements.<\/p>\n Theoretical aspects includes; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The theory aspects of the course are taught through a range of different sporting activities. <\/span>An example of activities covered in Higher PE are; <\/span> The practical performance <\/span>component<\/span> is designed to enable candidates to <\/span>build <\/span>a broad and comprehensive range of skills across a <\/span>variety <\/span>of different performance contexts<\/span> in preparation for performance assessments. Candidates will be able to build performance skills in the 4 main activities covered through the course delivery but will also develop\u00a0 skills through dedicated “one off” performance preparation <\/span>periods.<\/span><\/span> Candidates will be assessed in\u00a0two different\u00a0<\/strong>physical activities.<\/span><\/p>\n COURSE ASSESSMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n Component 1 \u2013 Performance\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a060 marks (Scaled mark 50%)<\/p>\n Component 2 \u2013 Question paper\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a050 marks<\/p>\n Total\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 100 %<\/p>\n The course will be graded A-D and learners must pass the mandatory units and course assessment to achieve a course award.<\/p>\n ASSESSEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n Component 1: Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n The learners will complete TWO “one of” performances in two different activities.\u00a0 The context of the performances must be challenging and competitive and\/ or demanding.<\/p>\n The performances are worth 60 marks out of the total of 110.\u00a0 The performance is scaled by SQA to represent 50% of the overall marks for the course assessment.<\/p>\n Component 2: Question paper<\/strong><\/p>\n Assesses learner\u2019s ability to integrate and apply knowledge and understanding from across the course.\u00a0 The exam will last 2 hour and 30 minutes<\/p>\n HOMEWORK<\/strong><\/p>\n Homework is an essential part of the course.\u00a0 Homework will include practice questions\u00a0 and regular revision of all the material covered in the course.<\/p>\n PROGRESSION<\/strong><\/p>\n Higher PE is recognised by all Universities and will lead onto HNC\/HND\/ or degree courses in any sport related subjects.<\/p>\n FURTHER DETAILS<\/strong><\/p>\n Full details of the course specification can be found online at: http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Entry Requirements Candidates should have achieved a pass at\u00a0 National 5 Physical Education at A or B grade.
