Literacy:\u00a0 In reading, we have been working on identifying and stating facts and opinions.\u00a0 We know that facts are something that is known to be true and can be proved.\u00a0 An opinion is\u00a0 what someone believes and it has no proof.<\/p>\n
In Grammar we have worked on question marks;\u00a0 identifying and writing questions and statements.<\/p>\n
In numeracy we have worked on the vertical written method of subtraction with exchange.\u00a0 Some of us have continued to work on subtraction facts within 20.<\/p>\n
For art, we have created a water background display (wax resist) for our fish that we will make next week from our bottles.<\/p>\n
It was Shrove Tuesday this week and we were delighted to be able to make and eat pancakes that day.\u00a0 \u00a0So the next day, we modelled a piece of Procedure Text on How to Make Pancakes.<\/p>\n
It was World Book Day on Thursday 3.3.22.\u00a0 We went on a character hunt around the school.\u00a0 We found lots of characters:\u00a0 Thomas the Tank Engine;\u00a0 Peter Rabbit;\u00a0 Charlie and Lola and Zog (and more).\u00a0 \u00a0We then found out what the Kingsland Staff’s favourite books were by opening videos and pictures, a collection produced by Mrs McGilp,\u00a0 \u00a0Mrs Scott’s childhood favourite books were Enid Blyton’s Famous Five.\u00a0 \u00a0Mrs Hope’s favourite books were the The Day the Crayons Quit and the Day the Crayons came home.\u00a0 Mrs Franklyn Rae’s favourite book was Manfred the Baddie.\u00a0 We brought in our own favourite books to read and\/or draw our own inspired front cover.<\/p>\n
In collaborative group work we worked on the skill Talking in Quiet Voices and played Chinese Whispers.<\/p>\n
We also had a chance to finish our Mapwork of the United Kingdom and Scotland.<\/p>\n
