{"id":3649,"date":"2022-01-28T12:44:17","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T12:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/p12021\/?p=3649"},"modified":"2022-02-10T20:37:03","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T20:37:03","slug":"our-scottish-week-ending-28-1-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sb\/p12021\/2022\/01\/28\/our-scottish-week-ending-28-1-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Scottish Week (ending 28.1.21)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday we recited our class poem The Sair Finger by Walter Wingate.\u00a0 \u00a0Everyone who said the poem to the class or to Mrs Scott and Mrs Cormack was presented with a Burns Poetry Certificate,\u00a0 \u00a0Great work Primary 3.\u00a0 This can be quite a scary thing to do.<\/p>\n<p>Some children entered the Burns Competition and the winner for Primary 3 was <strong>Max Caldwell<\/strong> and the Runner-Up was <strong>Emily Gray<\/strong>. Congratulations.<\/p>\n<p>For the school video each table group recited one verse and we made a class video of us all reciting The Sair Finger,\u00a0 \u00a0This will be on the whole school Scottish video for you to watch.<\/p>\n<p>We worked very hard on creating a poem about a family member in Scots.\u00a0 \u00a0We then had to practise saying our poem for the school video.\u00a0 \u00a0We hope you enjoy hearing us read them.\u00a0 Here are a couple of examples of the poems we created.\u00a0 A copy of this poem was sent home on Thursday 27.1.22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ma Brither<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ma brither haes short, dark, broon hair.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ma brither haes blue een.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He is awfie tall wi lanky legs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ma brither \u2018supposed tae wear his glesses.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He wears Nike claes.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ma brither haes a bonnie face.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ma brither is guid at makin mac \u2018n cheese.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He\u2019s awfie guid at fitba\u2019.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ma brither maks me heppy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Me and ma brither play the gither at collie backs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ma brither looks efter me, he\u2019s a guid brither, the best brither in the world.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I widna be withoot him.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>by Mia\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ma Dug<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ma dug is cawd Winne.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>She haes black fur an&#8217; white splodges.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ma dug likes tae fetch sticks fae dawn tae dusk.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>When I&#8217;m sad ma dug snuggles up.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>She loves tae be stroked.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>When it&#8217;s bedtime she snuggles up next tae the feear.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>In the mornin&#8217; she gets up an&#8217; eats her scran.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ma dug loves to gang a walk in the efternin.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I love ma dug Winnie wi aw ma hert.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>By Drew and Jamie<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>We had some fun singing and doing all the actions to Head,\u00a0 Shoulders, Knees and Toes in Scots.\u00a0 The words we used were: Heid, Shodders, Knaps an&#8217; Taes and of course een, lugs, mooth and neb.<\/p>\n<p>We found out some facts about Robert Burns.\u00a0 We listened to Auld Lang Syne and said The Selkirk Grace.\u00a0 \u00a0We listened to the poem To a Mouse.<\/p>\n<p>Rory &#8211; Robert Burns was born in Ayrshire;<\/p>\n<p>Imogen, he died at the young age of 37 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Drew, he died the same day his 12th child was born;<\/p>\n<p>We learned about the Scottish artist Steven Brown and his fabulous McCoo artwork.\u00a0 We then created our own &#8216;McCoo&#8217; in his style using oil pastels.\u00a0 \u00a0This has also been made into a video for the whole school Scottish video.<\/p>\n<p>We used the iPads this week to reinforce our symmetry work. \u00a0We used the App SketchesSchool and the symmetry tool. \u00a0Here are two examples made by Rory and Elsie.
