We had fun today using our addition skills to solve a problem. Some people said it was tricky but a little challenge helps us learn.<\/p>\n
Here is the puzzle:<\/p>\n
Chico’s cards are all different.<\/strong><\/p>\n There is a number from 1 to 8<\/strong> on each.<\/p>\n Chico has chosen four cards<\/strong> that add up to 20.<\/strong> What are they?<\/p>\n There are 7 possibilities. Try to find them all.<\/p>\n Most pairs found it helpful to use playing cards. They listed their answers e.g. 7 + 3 + 6 + 4. We soon discovered that our bonds to 10 helped us. Some pairs were fast to use two cards to make 11 then two to make 9.<\/p>\n We had to check that we hadn’t repeated a solution e.g. 6 + 4 + 7 + 3 is the same as 7 + 4 + 3 + 6<\/p>\n Try our problem.
