Here’s a link to the beetle video we watched in class today. Which was your favourite beetle? Where do you think you might find beetles in your garden?

Mrs. Ward gave us clues to next week’s minibeast that we are studying in class! Here they are:
What do you think it is?
Alec says- ‘Can you see the difference?’
Hamish- ‘Measure the caterpillars!’
Blaise- ‘Try and crack the case! How did the caterpillars get bigger?!’
Look at how our caterpillars have changed!
Beth McN says ‘They have doubled in size in just two nights!’
Mrs. Anderson wonders how big they will be when we come back on Monday!
Yesterday we went on a minibeast hunt- we were looking for slugs and snails! We had to think about where we might find these minibeasts- light and dry places or dark and damp? Where do you think snails and slugs like to live?
We carefully examined the slugs and snails and then put them back in their own habitats where they belong!
We are very excited- we have 5 caterpillars in our class to look after! How will they grow and change? Check our blog every few days- we will update you on how they are doing!
Can you see the black bits? They are bits of exoskeleton that the caterpillars shed as they grow. Do you see the webbing? It protects the caterpillars from things that want to eat them! The brown balls are caterpillar poo!
This is the first blog from P2. We hope to share with you lots of our learning about minibeasts!
