Beep Beep Day

On Wednesday 20th of March the JRSO’s held a Beep Beep day to help the younger ones to learn about road safety. We read a book to them about walking safely around the road. We then held a game of corners. Then to finish everything off we made a mock up of a road and taught them how to cross it safely.

Zoolab Visit

On Thursday the 17th Zoolab visited us to talk about the Rainforests  and the animals that live in them. Tristan who was the person who came in brought along a tarantula ( called Tinkerbell) , a royal python ( called Hector) , a tortoise (called pancake), some hissing cockroaches, a rat and a horned toad. We all got to handle or touch some of them.

Japanese Snacks

On Friday the 30th Mrs Ferguson brought some Japanese snacks in for us to try. There was dried pea pods, spicy peas, nuts with soy sauce and prawn crackers. We all tried something and we really enjoyed it. Thank you Mrs Ferguson.

Remembrance

On Wednesday the 7th of November the P 5/6/7’s  led our Remembrance Service. We made some poppies out of clay and        re-cycled materials. Mrs Black brought in her clay poppy from the Tower of London. The older ones made their own Remembrance poems.  After the service the Primary 7’s  laid a wreath up at the church with Calum the Minister.

Electrostatic and Magnetic forces

This afternoon P6/7 have done lots of science experiments learning about electrostatic and magnetic forces.

We rubbed balloons on our hair and tested where they would stick. We also  moved different objects using magnets.

We all had a lot of fun and even made our own magnets!

Electrostatic balloon

sticking to a whiteboard – acting like a magnet

Magnetic maze – the magnet worked through card to move the paperclip through the maze.

Save the drowning paperclip! The magnet worked through the glass and water to drag the paperclip out!

Magnetic madness! We made our own needle magnets.
