P123 BOAT RACE IN THE BURN

The weather finally allowed us to race our boats in Longcote Burn.  We have had a great time exploring different materials, drawing designs, labelling diagrams, testing out prototypes in the water tray and adapting our designs to make them better. We found out that objects that float and are waterproof were the best to use and sometimes found it hard to joins parts of our design together (we tried sellotape, glue and string). Some of us even investigated ballast and buoyancy!

(We also made thank you cards for the welly-wearing adult helpers 🙂 Thank you)

Health Week Wednesday and Thursday

On Wednesday we had a blast in the morning doing heart start which was different scenarios of how to save people’s lives. We learned C.P.R, the recovery position and more.

We also did a 20 minute run around the netball court, we then added up all the laps that we did and our grand total was…        65 Miles!!!!

On Thursday we had P.E and did a triathlon, it was really fun. We did jumping, running and throwing. When it wasn’t our turn we kept active by running around the netball court.

We also had another lovely walk up the track.

On Monday we all walked up the track and back before lunch. It was a lovely day so we got a great view of the school. In the afternoon we were visited by Pauline from Tesco. Pauline brought food from all around the Commonwealth. For example tea from Sri Lanka, noodles from Singapore and grapes from South Africa and many more. We then had music with Mrs Inglis learning songs from all over the Commonwealth.

On Tuesday we were back in our groups going round 3 stations – Aboriginal art-inspired printing with Miss Watt, Commonwealth flags with Mrs Taylor and Commonwealth Values with Mrs Harrison.  P1-4 also had a visit from Penicuik First Responders who taught them about first aid.
