Two weeks ago the primary 7s went to Winmarleigh on a 4 hour bus jorney.when we got they we got taken to the games room to meet our groopee his name was Kyle he was really funny and helpful. Every day we would have breackfast at 8:00 every morning and then do two activities,some of the activities were zip wire, rock climbing, absailing, giant swing, all abord, anitiative exesises and some more. most of the activities were good but the one that we did not like as much was forensicsit was a three hour long actitvte. the food was one of the best parts it was amazing difnetly the chips.

Mosaic

We have all been creating a mosaic tile this week with Peebles artist Deborah Campbell. You can visit her website here!

Each person in the school has designed a mosaic tile based on the natural world around us. We had to choose from loads of different tiles to create our designs, carefully cutting some of the tiles to shape. They are going to form a display in our new school.

Youth Music Initiative Showcase

We attended the Youth Music Initiative Showcase event in the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels on Wednesday. Our band – ‘Shakalaka West Linton’ shared with the audience the different instruments we were using and what we had learned through all of the drumming sessions that we have had. We also gave an amazing drumming performance which rocked!

The audience were amazed at our performance.

Dancing at P.E

We are looking at ‘Inventions’ for our topic. So, at P.E we are creating a special inventions dance, which includes- the clock, the radio and the television. We dance to these songs,- Hung up, radio Gaga and television. These songs were written by Madonna, Queen and Hard- Fi.The targets included jumping, movement, imagination amd concentration. We have had to work together to create our dances and we will be performing them to the school during the last week of term.

Drumming With Matt The Hat !

Over the last three weeks Matt The Hat has come in and taken us on the big drum adventure!
With drums from around the world.
This week he introduced a new drum called rebeneke.
It’s a bit like a snaire drum but it doesn’t have the balls on the bottom.
We also used a Bass Drum and djembe.
We have to perform at the Volunteer Hall in a few weeks time in front of loads of people.

Our construction challenge

Robertsion Construction ( a building company that is building our new school) came in today and they set our class a challenge. Our a challange was to make a 4 m high tetrahedron. we started by making our own mini ones and we had to make 64 small ones also we used 384 pieces of dowling. Then we took four small tetrahedrons and made a bigger one and lastly we made out of the four big ones together and ten we added them all together which was really hard and we needed the 3 tallest people in the class toput the top one on then it was complete. It was really fun and the rest of the school came in to see it.

We were doing drama with Mrs Inglis. We were learning about improvisation. We had to take an object and make it into a prop. Some people chose a bench and made it into a canoe or a trampoline. We had to make the prop into 10 different things, 5 silent and 5 speaking. Some people made a bouncy hopper into a wheelchair or a car.
