People on the Titanic

P7B have been learning about some of the people who were on board the Titanic. We drew accurate pictures of individuals and wrote ‘in-role’ autobiographies too.
We’ve made a large Titanic wall display and added our work to it.

SCREENWRITER VISIT

Former Ayton Primary and Eyemouth High School pupil  and BBC screenwriter, Kirstie Swain, visited P7 pupils at Eyemouth Primary School this week. The classes are currently learning how to write their own scripts and Kirstie was able to share her experiences and give them some tips for writing a successful script.

At present, Kirstie is working on her second ‘Holby City’ script for the BBC; she has also written two episodes of ‘Doctors’ and her first ‘Eastenders’ episode is due to be broadcast soon. Kirstie’s first experience of writing professionally was when she undertook a week’s work experience at The Berwickshire News while she was in 4th year at Eyemouth High School.

The teachers are hoping that pupils will be inspired to go on and write their own exciting scripts which will include dialogue and stage directions to add detail.

(Don’t forget to watch Kirstie’s episode of ‘Eastenders’ on the 4th September!)

P7 Egg Challenge

Team building activity involving fresh eggs and a great height!

Groups were provided with newspaper, artstraws, Blutak, Sellotape, string, and of course, an egg! They had to work together to devise a package which would protect the egg and stop it from breaking, when dropped from a great height!
Points were awarded for good team cooperation.
Teams used the materials in a variety of ingenious ways.
Miss Perryman & Mrs Delaney performed the Great Egg Drop!
Hardly any of the eggs survived, but we had great fun trying and were able to develop our team working skills.
