Scottish Book Trust Week

Primary 1 pupils at Eyemouth Primary School were recently entertained by a group of S3 pupils from Eyemouth High School as part of Book Week Scotland celebrations.  The group, members of the library reading group, were keen to share their enthusiasm for reading with younger pupils.  Mrs Renstead, the librarian organised the visit in conjunction with primary teachers, Ms Horne and Mrs Delaney.

The stories – “Ringo the Flamingo” and “Owl Babies” captured the attention of the primary pupils with plenty keen to ask questions at the end.  Millie, an S3 pupil said “It was nice to make a connection with the younger pupils who behaved so well.”  Ebony added that for her the experience had been “absolutely amazing.”  Thank to Scottish Border Council Library Service for supplying the story sacks.

Primary 1 pupils said:

“It was a lovely story, I liked it when Mummy came.” – Katie

“I liked Ringo Flamingo when he saved the egg.” – Evelina

“I enjoyed the girls reading the story.” – Samuel

We went down to p1/D to ask them some questions, our first question was, What have you enjoyed this week? and we got quite a lot of answers like: Making mothers day cards, story writing, designing toys and playing in the playground.

We also asked if they had enjoyed there action station and every single one of them said, ” Yes!”  So thank you everyone who helped out on the action stations to make it great for them.

P1 have been enjoying playing with the plasticene they also enjoyed maths and language. In maths they were doing coins and numbers. Some of Mrs Horns class played with the farm and plasticene Mrs Perrymans class liked fab Friday and playing in the rollplay corner they had Woody and Buzz Mrs Delany’s class have been liking there writing about Buzz and Woody.By Antonio and Duncan

Today in P1P we have learnt about money. With Mrs Hayman we have been learning about Shabat. Later on in the week we started to continue with our sounds. We have also been making toys like windmills.

In P1D we have been learning to move a beebot using the language forwards, backwards, right and left. Also we have been learning different types of coins and putting them into groups of 1p, 2p and 10p coins.

p1D have been having lots of fun this week. They have been learning about toys as their topic. They have been making spinners, mobiles, kites,spinning tops and puppets. They all turned out fantastic! Great work p1D!

This week in P1P, we have enjoyed woodwork. We made some buses, boats and aeraplanes,we also enjoyed action stations some of us were doing road saftey and beebot.
