Welcome to Primary 5 and Mrs Lyon.

Our Primary 5 class is made up of 29 fantastic pupils, 20 boys and 9 girls. We are a lively, enthusiastic and energetic bunch who enjoy learning together! We also have Miss Phillips in on a Thursday and Mrs Smith in to support us regularly.

We have had a great start to the school academic year where we have enjoyed team building activities and getting to know one another. We have already started to build a relationship as a class team and enjoy listening to one another.

We have started our first topic which is all about the Great British Isles with a focus on Scotland- the children have been enjoying learning about Scotland and the landscapes within our beautiful country.

This year we will be focusing on our Numeracy daily using the Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract (CPA) approach which our children have been engaging well by working collaboratively with their peers to investigate scenarios. We will also be working on our literacy skills daily using the South Ayrshire Reads approach where we use consistency while working on our fluency, accuracy, vocabulary and understanding of texts that we read.

We can’t wait to continue our journey in primary 5 and see where the year takes us. We are also excited to share our learning, achievements and special moments throughout the year. Keep checking our seesaw page to see what we get up to!
