‘Garden Project Open Afternoon’
Everyone had a great time at our Open Afternoon recently.
This was an opportunity for pupils, family members and the wider community to get together and see for themselves what we are trying to achieve with our Green Gym Project.
Classes contributed to a Vision Board with their own ideas. Some have started planting seeds to grow vegetables in dedicated beds.
Our Partners TCV came along too. They have helped already with some work to restore the Willow Tunnel and make the path more accessible. Some of our senior pupils had a great time working along with them. Next they will be coming in to lead in Food Growing Sessions and Citizen Science Sessions. This will be a great opportunity to involve our classes and get planting for the spring.
We had a great response from visitors and have signed them up to come along and help with some of the ground work. Everyone was enthusiastic and are looking forward to working with us and creating an inclusive approach to our Outdoor Learning plans.
We’re hoping to create links with the community and make a sustainable Working Allotment as well as improving our own school environment, making it possible for everyone to enjoy outdoor learning and enhance health and wellbeing.
