We also visited the McKechnie Institute, where we listened to recorded accounts from WW2 soldiers to better understand their experiences and how the war affected their lives. We heard about local soldiers who left Girvan to fight in WW2 and listened to their stories.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, we have been focusing on place value, addition, and subtraction, using the column method and practising exchanging to improve accuracy and confidence. We celebrated Roald Dahl Day by exploring a range of his well-loved novels and characters. We have also been working with IRIS Drama to create a walking video promoting our local community of Girvan and highlighting some of the beautiful local walks available.

Religious Education (RE)

In RE, we have been continuing our journey through the Pope Francis Faith Award, thinking about how we can use our own gifts and talents for the common good. We have also been exploring the Creation Story and the theory of Evolution, comparing religion and science and discussing how they can work together to help us understand the world around us.

Health and Wellbeing

In Health and Wellbeing, we have been learning about our bodies, mental health, and how to manage our emotions in positive ways. We have also discussed peer pressure and social pressures, thinking about strategies to make confident and responsible choices.

In PE, we are focusing on ball skills, developing teamwork and coordination through sports such as basketball and football.

We are very proud of the positive and supportive ethos in our classroom.
