Through our core IMS activity we reach <strong>1,400 children and young people every year<\/strong>. Our team provide music education on a number of musical instruments.<\/p>\n<p>Around 500 children and young people are taking part in our<strong>\u00a015 authority groups<\/strong> which rehearse in the evening. This gives young people an opportunity to develop and extend their skill.<\/p>\n<p>Our YMI programme reaches <strong>children in every primary and ASN school<\/strong>, in 2024\/25<strong> over 2,000 children<\/strong> will benefit from this nationally funded programme<\/p>\n<p>You can find out more about the different strands of what we do through the links below<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/sacims\/instrumental-tuition-in-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instrumental Instruction in schools<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; music education for strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, voice, guitar, highland bagpipe<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/sacims\/authority-activities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Authority Activities\u00a0<\/a> &#8211; currently 15 ensembles, bands, orchestras, choirs<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/sacims\/youth-music-initiative-programme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Youth Music Initiative Programme<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; the IMS plans, delivers and supports music education projects across all primary and ASN schools in South Ayrshire<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/sacims\/early-years-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Professional learning<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; IMS support for music education<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/sacims\/primary-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Support for teaching Music <\/a>&#8211; developed by our YMI coordinator &#8211; a bank of resources to support music education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We work in partnership with Head Teachers in Primary Schools and Principal Teachers of music in Secondary schools to provide access to high quality music making opportunities for young people in all our schools.<\/p>\n<p>A list of Instrumental Music Service (IMS) colleagues is available <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sa\/sacims\/meet-the-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you need to contact us, email\u00a0<strong>MusicServices@south-ayrshire.gov.uk<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>___________________________________________________________________________<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer Sessions &#8211; June 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the challenges of the 2020\/21 school session, South Ayrshire Instrumental Music Service adapted delivery of instrumental lessons to ensure we reached young people in schools and at home delivering over 14,000 live lessons across the session. Our young musicians amazed us with their resilience, positive attitude and ability to continue to learn. We were unable to hold our normal ensemble and group activities, but pupils took part in a 6-week virtual rehearsal programme across different authority ensembles.
