Mrs Gilbert’s Whole School Homework – Week Beginning 30th November
As you know we will be moving soon to our new building. Keeping our children safe will remain our top priority.
The children have walked with their teacher from the current Ayr Grammar to the new school and they also took part in a Walk to School Week. This is all part of our Travel Plan – to encourage as many people as possible to walk, cycle, scoot or park and stride to the new school.
We would now like to ask for your family’s support. I have attached 2 plans to this email – one shows the suitable parking and journey times from these points to the new school, the other shows crossing areas.
The home work challenge is for your family to either talk through this with your child/children or even better, to walk this as a family.
If you do take the family on the walking route to the new school, we would love if you could send in a photograph that we can share on the school Twitter feed.
We would encourage as many families a possible to get involved, it’s a lovely way to talk through what will be their new routine in January.
Notes about School Entry System to help you on your family walk/talk
If out walking, please point out the entrance/exit areas for your child/children – P1 and 2 will enter from the gate at the front of the school building on Fort Street (GATE 1) – you go through the gate and turn left into a separate P1/2 playground. Primary 3 to 7 pupils will enter from South Harbour Street– drop off with school staff at the gap to the right of glass fronted Archive building – the children then go up the stone stairs to the playground(another adult will be at GATE 3 to greet your child.)
Once the children are in through the gates there are no other exits. All gates will be covered by staff when these are opened.
MORNING
P1/2 – only P1 adults in the morning can enter the P1/2 playground (1 adult only). P2 should be dropped off at GATE 1. Staff will ensure they get to their class.
P3-7 – It is expected that all P3-7 children will enter independently from GATE 3 on South Harbour Street– staff will be there to cover gates and direct children to their classrooms.
END OF DAY
P1 parents should enter through GATE 1 (same as drop off) at 3:10pm
P2 and 3 parents should enter from GATE 2 at 3:10pm (this gate is accessed through the main entrance on Fort Street but sits to the right hand side – opposite GATE 1). You can then collect your child/children from the class teacher – signage will be placed in the playground to help and staff will be there to assist. Once you have your child/children please leave through GATE 3 on to South Harbour Street.
P4-7 will be released from GATE 3 on to South Harbour Street – please arrange a meeting point AWAY from the entrance area.
