Welcome to our Primary One Site

Homework week beginning 7th June p1B

June already! Can you believe it, primary one is almost finished and what a year it has been, you have all worked so hard and should be very proud of all of your achievements.

Homework this week is a mixture of Reading Eggs, Education City and Sumdog- as requested.

Numeracy

I have set up some revision exercises on Sumdog for you to practice. Have fun playing the games, I might even join you later in the week!

Literacy

We have recently learned the ‘er’ and ‘ar’ sounds and are now learning about vowels.  On Education City you will find some activities to help you practice these. Remember what Mrs Doak always says, “practice makes perfect”!  There is also a reading activity for you to listen to then answer the questions, it is called ‘The Toy Shop’.  In class we have been working hard using the sounds we already know to help us read, on Reading Eggs there is a revision activity for some of the sounds you have learned this year.

Have fun with your homework and I will see you in class 🙂

Homework week beginning 24th May p1B

Numeracy

In school we have been learning about fractions, concentrating on halves and wholes.  There is an activity on Education City to help practise this, but at home why not help make dinner by chopping some food in half?  You could also go on a treasure hunt around your house or local area looking for halves and wholes.

Literacy

In class we have been learning about the oi and ue sound, there is an activity for each on Education City.  Can you see any oi or ue words in any newspapers, magazines or books at home?

There is a task on Education City called Granny’s Puppets, listen to the story and answer the questions that follow.  We have been looking at writing sentences in class, can you find the capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in the story?  What else can you see?

Finally, there is a tricky word activity, listen to the tricky word and match it to the rocket.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend, see you in class!

Mrs Doak 🙂

Homework week beginning 17th May p1B

Numeracy

In school we are learning about doubling numbers and counting in twos to ten.  We also have a shop in class and can recognise coins to £2 . There are some activities on Education City to complete. At home you could count in twos while walking around the house or garden and play games using coins.

Literacy

In class we have been learning about instructional writing such as recipes. There is a task on Education City to sort the recipe in the correct order.

We have also learned two new sounds this week, which are, qu and ou, there is an activity for each on Education City.  At home you could look for qu and ou words around the house or in books.

Numeracy:  As you know we have been learning all about time. We can read O’clock and half past on an analogue clock. There are some games on Education City to help practise these skills.

Literacy: Build upon your reading skills by playing the games I have selected for this week on Education City.

When reading your books at home look out for some of the tricky words that are in the Education City Tasks. Remember how many words you have found and tell me the next day. I am going to keep tally marks for all of the words so we can see how many we have found as a class. Let’s challenge P1A to see who can find the most.

Enjoy!

Homework tasks Week Beginning 26.04.21

Education City:

Please log in to Education City and complete the tasks set for our class. The  tasks this week will be focused on the sounds we are learning in class. You will find one activity for each sound.

There is also a link to a topic tool for cvc words and an activity sheet on Education city to help you  spell words correctly.

At school we have been learning all about days of the week, seasons and months of the year. We have been focusing on how to order these correctly and how to read and write the days of the week. At home you could create flash cards with your child that say the days of the week on them. You can play games where you have to sequence the cards or you could turn over one card at a time and say which day comes before and after that day.

We are still not allowed to send reading books home, however the children do get a new reading book each week. At home to encourage and develop your child’s reading skills please read aloud with your child, share stories with them. Even if they are not reading it’s hugely beneficial to let them hear you read.  Question them about the story and allow them to ask you questions about the text.

We are so glad that you have found us.
