Our Lessons

‘Our Lessons’ is intended to tie together all the elements of Learning and Teaching at Ayr Academy, that is to say:

• ‘Our Lessons’ promotes high-quality learning and teaching throughout the school
• ‘Our Lessons’ is used as a tool during classroom observations to ensure feedback is relevant and can be acted upon
• ‘Our Lessons’ promotes a positive culture across the school by highlighting and identifying in-school leaders of aspects of learning and teaching
• ‘Our Lessons’ is a self-evaluation tool, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
• ‘Our Lessons’ supports personal and professional review as it highlights the importance of professional reading, observing and training
• ‘Our Lessons’ approaches consistency not through what a lesson should contain, but by promoting a shared understanding of what makes a high-quality lesson
