On our trip we also visited Burns Cottage and had a great time playing in the park. This month, we have also been learning about the Human body and all things Scottish with our Scottish Poems. Keep practicing for the competition in January!

December Update

This month, Primary ½ have had the privilege of being visited by our helpful Elf Sparkletoes all the way from the North Pole! Sparkletoes has been watching us learn in class and even sent us a fabulous story all about how elves use magic portals to transport themselves back to the North Pole each and every night. He has watched as Primary ½ have made clothes using appropriate materials for their dolls house characters in the small world area, and has been amazed by the artistic skills of our class as they used paints to show their ideas of what the north pole looks like. He particularly enjoyed watching the Primary 1’s and 2’s rehearse there different roles for our school show and watching as they had great fun meeting SANTA at their Christmas Parties.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2026,
Mrs Ross and Miss Jones.

January Update

It has been a busy start to the year in P1/2! In STEM and RE, we have been building models of Noah’s Ark and testing them on the water to see what floats. We linked this to our Maths work on weight, where the children enjoyed weighing their arks to see how heavy they were before “sending them to sea.” In Literacy, we have been writing cumulative tales, learning to distinguish fact from fiction, and practicing our poetry performances—specifically focusing on voice projection, facial expressions, and eye contact as well as being a quality audience for those performing.

Mrs Ross and Miss Jones.

February Update

It’s been a busy month of big questions and global adventures! A definite highlight was our Valentine’s Party, where we celebrated friendship and kindness in our party clothes!

“If Love was an Action…”

The children dove into a “Big Question”: How do we show love without words? Their insights were beautiful, suggesting that love looks like helping a friend who has fallen, sharing toys, or a “warm feeling in your tummy.”

Scotland vs. The Savannah

We’ve also started our brand-new topic! From cozy reading sessions to mind-boggling science, the children have been diving deeply into exploring the world around them.

🪄 World Book Day Wonders

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day! The classroom was extra cozy as everyone arrived in their favourite pyjamas, ready to share stories and our class trip to Waterstones prompted great questions about Paddington Bear like “Where did Paddington Bear come from?” And “”How did he get from Deepest Darkest Peru to Kings Cross Station?”.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Magic Show. We watched in awe as things disappeared, reappeared, and moved in ways we couldn’t explain! The performance was so inspiring that it sparked our newest “Big Question” in class.

🧪 The Big Question: How do objects move if we don’t touch them?

Following the magic show, our budding scientists have been researching Forces during our science lessons.
