Welcome to Primary 2/3/4! Our teachers are Miss Hughes (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Riddle (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday).
This is our class charter.
We have PE on Monday and Thursday!
November Update
P2/3/4 have had a busy month! We celebrated Book Week Scotland with a book scavenger hunt, a cosy PJ day and a trip to Carnegie Library, were we all got to take a book back to school to read. In class, we have been learning about sound and vibration and have really enjoyed exploring different instruments, creating our own and having a go of Mrs Riddle’s guitar! We have also been celebrating the Into Film Festival by watching Rio and exploring friendships and emotions through this.
January Update
What a busy first month back at school after our winter holiday! P2/3/4 have been enjoying exploring Space as our focus for our learning. We have started to explore what space is, what is on planet earth and why we have day and night! We are looking forward to find out more about the sun and it’s movement, the moon and will be starting to explore the solar system! We have enjoyed making our collages of Planet Earth. For writing, we have been creating our own portal stories where a character goes through a portal and ends up in Space. We have been wonderful at adding in descriptive vocabulary to describe our setting. In numeracy, we have been learning how to multiply and divide using concrete resources, arrays and sharing into equal groups to help us. In PE, we have been learning new skills through how to play mini handball with Ryan which has been super fun!
February Update
P2/3/4 have been exploring a wonderful mix of ideas and experiences. We have been exploring our topic of Space, discovering what makes Earth such a special planet and imagining what life might be like beyond our world. It has also provoked some intriguing questions, such as what IS a black hole? And how does the blood moon appear? In maths, they’ve been working confidently with fractions of amounts, using practical activities to build strong number sense. As part of a whole school Big Question, the class has been thinking about what love looks like — sparking some fabulous creativity. After lunch, the children have been enjoying quiet time to reset for the afternoon, often settling down with a book or some drawing. We have also really been enjoying our class novel, of our favourites has been The Magic Faraway Tree, which has sparked imagination, laughter and lots of great discussion. It’s been a joyful, curious and thoughtful term of learning.
