I can retell a story I have heard.
Can your child recall and retell main parts of a story, prompts can be used, puppets, characters etc.
For example, show them the book Goldilocks and the Three Bears, ask them if they know what story it is and ask if they can tell you what happens in the story. If they can sequence the story correctly, they can successfully retell/recall a story.
You can prompt your child, e.g. and what did Goldilocks do next? what did she do in that room? etc.
